Racing In DR

Air view

We race just like you do in the US (dirt main track in a counterclockwise direction) but to a merengue beat. Our newly inaugurated V Centenario Racecourse is and one of the finest of the Caribbean area, designed and it's construction supervised by US engineers. Racing is conducted at the brand new Hipdromo V Centenario that is a Caribbean showplace. The view from the grandstand and the Jockey Club allow you to see the races with the sparkling Caribbean Sea as a backdrop. This track is managed by Galpagos, S.A., a subsidiary of the same US company that owns and manages Hipdromo El Comandante in nearby Puerto Rico.

Our prize structure favors heavily the Dominican breds, allowing you to usually cover your initial investment with a decent two-year-old.

Our version of the Breeders' Cup is run the last Saturday in November and our Triple Crown is run between July and October.
